Go build me one of these (click for larger version)
Is that supposed to be Minas Morgul in Mordor?
(Wait, was that actually in Mordor, or just on the border? I can't remember. I just lost nerd cred for that, didn't I?)
I want to so badly now.
This is what I want in my capital city.. something intimidating and dark I love this <3
What is it build out of? Netherbrick or Stone?
from the picture i think cobble stone and stone slabs
Definitely stone slabs and either cobble, stone brick, or both. It's hard to say because I'm used to the default skin, and the lighting from the lava discolors everything.
Do want! Do want!
I'd be curious to see the interior and how it scales to the individual walking through the building. It's incredibly intricate, but looking at what constitutes an individual block, that thing is unbelievably massive.
I like massive.
(I'm ignoring the obvious double entendre.)
I don't have any problem with it, provided it's at a believable scale for the game. I guess if you want to make it into something "sculptural" instead of creating a useful building, it could work, but building like that almost seems like a waste.
If you look at the front connecting hallways from the corners to the center, they're more than fifty blocks long each (provided it's as symmetrical as it appears to be.)
Amber, mostly when people build massive stuff it's more about the outside, so more 'sculptural'!
I understand that, but I hate form without function when it's an obviously utilitarian object like a building. I can understand if one makes a replication of a car or a favored pet in a larger scale, because these things cannot be realistically rendered in the standard Minecraft scale. However, buildings are a perfect choice to recreate in Minecraft and I almost think of building out of scale as cheating a bit. I still see the work done in the above image as impressive and visually striking, but I'm almost disappointed that it seems to be unrealistically massive. Now, that isn't to say that there aren't real skyscrapers and things like that. I'm actually reminded a bit of city hall in Philadelphia which has a similar architectural style and was for a couple of centuries the tallest building in the city. I could see this as a reproduction of a similarly sized building, and as such the scale isn't necessarily off.
Amber, please replicate all those Bauhaus buildings.
Bauhaus architecture shouldn't be too difficult at all in Minecraft. Actually, it's almost perfect for it. I don't know that I'd feel like doing all of them though.
Gazamo - I've played there! Really cool RPG themed server. I've seen a load of city's like these over there, awesome stuff, really.
